Happiness is the Best Revenge

7 secrets they don't teach you
in therapy

Who hasn’t experienced a debilitating lack of confidence or doubt from others that they can’t succeed? Jacki Kane knows the crab pot scenario well—the crab that escapes the pot will get pulled back down by the other crabs. She gives people the skills they need to keep climbing and escape the trap. Growing up under intense scrutiny from her police officer mother gave Kane a fierce sense of defiance mixed with a severe lack of confidence. Determined to build the life she wanted, she became a self-proclaimed “therapy connoisseur.” But therapy can only go so far in making changes stick. When therapy didn’t save her, she learned to save herself and change everything. In her speech, Kane supplies vital tools to self-discovery, healing and change that participants can immediately put to work at work or in their personal lives.

Known for her characteristic dry wit and grounded perspective, Jacki Kane gets people rolling in the aisles one minute, deep in concentration the next. As an award-winning copywriter, she excels at delivering sharp messages that generate results – a more empowered staff ready to take on new challenges. As a stand-up comedian, she keeps people alert, wondering what she’ll say next. Her personal mantra, “Happiness is the best revenge,” radiates from the stage and gives the audience the power they need to create the life they want – in the workplace or in their personal lives.

Kane moonlighted as a stand-up comedian during her days in marketing at a Fortune 500 company in her 20’s. Then, she transferred her skills as a comedian to winning awards writing comedy for TV and radio. One cross-country move and two kids later, she decided to take her angst of being a parent to the stage, inviting other parents to put their stories in the spotlight. A breakthrough comedy shows for parents emerged called TIME OUT: The mother of all comedy shows. In one year, TIME OUT has expanded from performing in front of 60 people to 10,000. Kane recently appeared in More Magazine with comedian Caroline Rhea.

With a fresh, modern take on what it’s like to survive as a parent, worker, spouse and woman, Kane empowers audiences to take on what’s not working in their lives. As editor-in-chief of Mamazina Magazine, she empowers mothers to pursue their dreams and has been published in Metro Parent Magazine, The Oregonian and NW Parent. In her memoir, Sass Mouth: Destiny is a Joke, she serves up healing on a silver platter with a side of hot sauce-sharp sarcasm. Her journey to defeat the past and rebuild her life produced vital tools that are meant to be shared. She and her husband Brian have a six-year-old daughter, eight-year-old son, and a frog.
